Yep, I know, FOOD!

I really enjoy giving food as gifts, especially when I get to make it myself. Over the years I have made gingerbread trees, rum balls, coconut ice, white christmas, cookies, fudge etc etc.
Cowgirl Cookies, and more granny love!

Since buying our 1985 Jayco Jaylark pop-top camper, I have been eyeing off a whole heap of cool caravans, and DIY restorations. I am loving how something as simple as new curtains and cushion covers, or a coat of paint, can change the whole look and feel of a van. I SO want to give Coco (our camper haha) a makeover. Here are some that I love xx

This one is most relevant to me as it is a pop-top caper similar to ours xx

Our little boy (23 months) LOVES play food and cooking etc. We have a very small, plastic, play kitchen that he likes to use, but it really isn’t great. It is un-sturdy and tips easily, and the doors to the oven and microwave tend to come off if he gets a bit too excited/rough with it. I have had in my head for a long time now (thanks to Pinterest!) that I would like to build him a play kitchen out of secondhand/recycled furniture. I am yet to find the perfect pieces on eBay, as we are restricted by space, so am hoping to get around to some Op Shops and secondhand furniture places to have a look. If all else fails, I guess hubby will be hitting up the hardware store and building from scratch!
Here are some finished projects  found on Pinterest that have inspired me xx

R is for Rainbow. Rainbows seem to be popular in our house, so much so that we will be hosting a Rainbow High Tea in just over a week for our 2nd daughter’s 5th birthday. I made  Rainbow invitations for her to hand out for her friends, and have collected LOTS of other Rainbow ideas from Pinterest. No doubt there will be a post about the party in a bit over a week 🙂

Here are a couple of food and decoration ideas that I will be using

Ok, so I always take photos of things that happen around here, thinking I could blog them…..but then I get distracted by something pretty and shiny and forget all about them. So, I have decided that every so often, I need to go back through the photos and blog something worthy, that I had completely forgotten about.

First up: our TV cabinet makeover.

Now, I really can’t take much (ok, any) credit for this, as it was all hubby’s work. He went shopping for his new toys (50″ TV, new stereo and surround sound system, Bluray/DVD player…), he did all the manual labour etc etc. I just stood back and watched as he hacked up a perfectly good TV unit with power tools….in our dining area no less!!

Here is a before shot:

So anyway, after clearing it all out, and moving it, he set to work. Doors were removed, cabinet was measured up etc

Top was removed, and first cuts made

and as you can see, it all went from there 🙂

And here is the final product:

Not bad for a weekend’s work. It’s not flashy or fancy, but it did save us another couple of hundred $$ by re-modelling what we already had. Would have been more if hubby didn’t buy a saw, and a glass cutter to use though 🙂
